Trunk No. 01 — Foule Sentimentale

A monolithic trunk whose surface appears overtaken from within.

Thousands of lacquered forms press against one another across every plane. Some remain almost invisible beneath the surface. Others emerge completely. Joy, curiosity, melancholy, fear and release coexist in a continuous emotional landscape, as though the object itself were quietly coming to life.

Its finish is built through successive hand-polished layers of deep black lacquer, inspired by the construction of antique Chinese lacquer furniture. Light is absorbed before it is reflected, revealing extraordinary depth rather than surface gloss.

Each piece is hand-carved in Bali by master artisans whose sculptural traditions have been refined over generations. No two surfaces are ever identical.

Beneath the exterior lies an entirely different world.

The interior is lined in oxblood velvet, black leather microfiber and brushed brass. Hidden drawers, concealed compartments and precision-engineered storage systems are integrated throughout the structure, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese cabinetry, antique secret furniture and high-jewelry vault construction.

The complete architecture is intentionally revealed only to its owner.
